The Usk Valley Walk is a glorious 48-mile (77km) route between Brecon and Caerleon, which was opened in 1988.
It follows the broad and beautiful valley of the river Usk, from the heart of the Brecon Beacons into the ancient kingdom of Gwent. Further information can be found online via the Usk Valley Walk Website.
The Taff Trail is a 55-mile (93km) waymarked route for walkers and cyclists. It links the historic market town of Brecon with the city of Cardiff; and it passes through some of the most beautiful and varied landscapes in South Wales – using a delightful combination of canal paths, country lanes, disused railway lines and forest tracks.
The first section of the trail starts from the canal basin in Brecon, where you can chose from two equally breathtaking routes through the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park to Merthyr Tydfil.
From Merthyr Tydfil, it passes through former industrial towns and mining communities, before reaching the fairytale castle of Castell Coch. The final section follows the River Taff into the heart of Cardiff – ending at the prestigious modern waterfront of Cardiff Bay.
