Community Welcome Scheme
The voluntary sector in Powys is both diverse and vibrant, and at Powys County Council, we fully believe that this sector, together with the advantages that tourism development can bring, will play an integral role in the continual regeneration of our rural communities. However, we also understand that making voluntary organisations and community assets sustainable, requires innovation, determination and funding!!
Gaining access to public funding can be difficult, confusing and not to mention time consuming. Therefore the Tourism Department at Powys County Council have been instrumental in securing funds through the Rural Development Plan on behalf of the communities of Powys.
The funds can be accessed by applying to The Community Welcome Scheme, which is a delegated grant scheme offering both capital and revenue grant funding. The scheme aims to support small scale community based tourism projects throughout Powys.
The scheme will be operated on a first come first served basis. Applications can be submitted from 1st November 2008 until 31st March 2010. Please note that funds are limited, therefore time is of the essence. If your organisation has a project idea, then the project officers for the scheme would be delighted to talk to you to discuss the project further.
The officers can be contacted on 01874 612 278 or email community.tourism@powys.gov.uk.
We look forward to working with you and helping you to make a difference in your community.
